Clearwater Seafoods, Canada

Clearwater Lobster, Scallop, Clam and Crab fisheries are managed and monitored from our fleet office in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, Canada.  Our 10 vessel fleet includes traditional and state-of-the-art factory vessels.  

 Our Fleet

In addition to our Nova Scotia fleet, we have significant joint ventures in Argentina and Canada. 

Glaciar Pesquera, Argentina

Argentine scallops are harvested year-round off the Argentine Continental Shelf by our subsidiary, Glaciar Pesquera. The scallops, destined for European and North American markets are individually frozen at sea onboard factory vessels. Glaciar Pesquera has received recognition and numerous awards for Social Responsibility Programs aimed at improving and benefiting their community.

Clearwater Ocean Prawns, Canada

Two thousand metric tonnes of turbot and over 15,000 metric tonnes of Canadian coldwater prawns are sold annually through this successful joint venture which began in 1991 and was expanded in 2008. The vessels, Atlantic Enterprise and Ocean Prawns harvest and process Canadian coldwater prawns, shell-on and frozen-at-sea for maximum ocean fresh flavor and texture.

Offshore Lobster Fishing Fleet

Fred Davis | Captain, Randell Dominaux

Fred’s career in the fishing industry began in 1975 as a Deckhand on a fishing trawler sailing out of Riverport, NS. In 1977, Fred accepted a new position as a Bo’sun, leaving temporarily to attend the Pictou School of Fisheries. Successfully achieving his Fishing Masters Certificate, he returned as Mate on the same vessel. He has various positions on numerous vessels fishing ranging from ground fish to offshore lobster. Fred joined Clearwater as Captain in 2008, serving on the Hannah Atlantic, Ryan Atlantic and Atlantic Prospect. In 2011, he was offered a Captain’s position with the Randall Dominaux. Fred has participated in company sponsored training in safety, new technology, management and leadership.

E.Randall Scott | Captain, Randell Dominaux

Randall’s career in the fishing industry began in 1978, as a deckhand harvesting groundfish and swordfish. He achieved his Fishing Masters Class III Certification, and began serving as Captain in the same fishery. In 1996, he joined Clearwater serving various positions such as Deckhand, Engineer, Mate and Captain on Clearwater’s Atlantic Horizon fishing offshore crab and lobster. His focus became the offshore lobster fishery having served on Clearwater vessels; the Kristina Polaris, Ryan Atlantic I and Ryan Atlantic II, the Hannah Atlantic and Atlantic Prospect. In 2008, he accepted the position of Mate and, Relieving Captain, on Clearwater’s newly purchased and converted offshore lobster fishing vessel the Randall Dominaux . In 2011, Randall accepted a Captain’s position on Randall Dominaux. He has also participated in company sponsored training in safety, new technology, management and leadership.


Canadian Offshore Scallop Fishing Fleet

Richard Mosher | Captain, Atlantic Preserver

Richard started his career in the fishing industry and served as deckhand and mate on inshore fishing vessels, long lining. He was employed from 1989 to 2003 with Scotia Trawlers Equipment Ltd. as Deckhand, 2nd Engineer and Mate on various offshore scallop-fishing vessels, including the factory freezer vessel Cape Blomidon. In 1993 he earned his Fishing Master Class III Certificate; and successfully earned his Fishing Master Class II Certificate in. In 2003, he was employed with Clearwater as Mate on an offshore scallop-fishing vessel. In 2004, he accepted appointment to Captain of one of Clearwater’s wetfish offshore scallop fishing vessels. 2005 marked his appointment as Captain on both the Atlantic Guardian, and Atlantic Preserver. Throughout his career, Richard has actively participated in various computer programs; and company sponsored management , occupational health & safety, Lean Level 1 Certification, and supervisory training .

Danny Nowe | Captain, Atlantic Preserver

Danny began his career in the fishing industry in 1988 as a Deckhand in the groundfish industry. Danny joined the Clearwater Fleet after serving 18 years as a Deckhand and Relieving mate in the offshore scallop fishing industry. He has served as Mate on both offshore scallop vessels, the Atlantic Guardian and Atlantic Preserver. In 2011, Danny accepted the position of Captain on the Atlantic Guardian and is currently serving in command of the Atlantic Preserver. Danny has actively participated in company sponsored training in safety, new technology, Lean Level 1 Certification, leadership and management.

Darren Wagner | Captain, Atlantic Protector

In 1989, Darren earned his Fishing Master Class III Certificate. He has held various positions, such as deckhand and Mate on offshore scallop vessels; and Captain of an inshore fishing vessel harvesting both clams and scallops. In 2003, he joined Clearwater as a deckhand and relieving Mate, within the Canadian wetfish offshore scallop vessels. In 2004, he accepted appointment as Mate on the factory freezer vessel the Atlantic Guardian and was promoted to a Captain’s position onboard the factory freezer vessel the Atlantic Protector in 2009. Darren has actively participated in training in various computer programs, management, occupational health & safety, Lean Level 1 Certification, and management.

Terry Knickle | Captain, Atlantic Protector

Terry began his fishing career in the shrimp fishing industry in 1992 and earned his Fishing Master Class III Certificate of Competency. He began working with the Clearwater offshore scallop operation in 2001 as a deckhand; he quickly learned the scallop fishing operation and was offered a position as Mate and Relieving Captain in the wetfish scallop fishing fleet. With the implementation of factory freezer vessels, he served in positions as Deck Boss, Mate and Relieving Captain. He accepted the position of Captain on the Atlantic Protector in July 2012. Terry has participated in company sponsored training programs in occupational health and safety, Lean Level 1 Certification, leadership and management.


Argentina Offshore Scallop Fishing Fleet

Cesar Camerucci | Captain, Atlantic Surf III

Born in Buenos Aires, Captain Cesar Gabriel Camerucci began his career with the Argentina Coast Guard. In 1976, he moved into the Argentine Scallop Fishery and joined Clearwater in 2001, as the Atlantic Surf 3 changed from a Canadian to an Argentine vessel. Cesar enjoys building remote control boats, planes and cars, as well as offshore sport fishing. He lives with his wife in Mar del Plata on the coast of Argentina.

Fabian Ginaca | Captain, Atlantic Surf II

Fabian was born in Buenos Aires and began his fishing career in 1992. In 1996, Fabian joined the Argentine Scallop vessel, the Atlantic Surf II, of the Clearwater and Glacier Pesquera joint partnership operation. He successfully earned his Fishing Masters Certificate of Competency and is now serving in command as Captain on Atlantic Surf II. Fabian was trained at the Shipbuilding Technical School, as well as the National School of Nautical (Overseas Captain-Merchant Navy). When not working, his love for the sea often finds him pleasure sailing the yacht he built.

Maximo Sanchez | Captain, Atlantic Surf I

Maximo was born in Mar del Plata and began his career in 1973 as an ordinary seaman; from 1982 to 2002 he studied at the National Fishing School and earned his Certificate of Competency as a Captain. In March 2002 he began working with the joint partnership operation in the Argentine Scallop fishery with Clearwater and Glacier Pesquera on the Atlantic Surf I. Maximo enjoys travelling as a hobby and when he retires he thinks he will study Engineering in Fishing.

Pablo Fallini | Captain, Atlantic Surf I

Pablo was born in Bernal, Buenos Aires and began his fishing career in 1987. From 1982 to 1986 he also studied at the National River School and in November 2002 began working with the joint partnership operation in the Argentine Scallop fishery with Clearwater and Glacier Pesquera on the Atlantic Surf I. In 2012 took his most recent course at the National Fishing School and earned his Certificate of Competency as a Captain. He enjoys woodworking and motorcycle trips during his time off work.


Offshore Clam Fishing Fleet

Frank Haire | Captain, Arctic Endurance

Frank graduated from High School in 1986 and began his career on the Concordia in 1988, on which he held various positions on deck and in the factory. He earned his Fishing Master Certification Class II during his ten years with the Concordia. While working in the harvesting operation, he assisted in the design and fabrication of the type of dredge used on the Ocean Concord today. Clearwater purchased the Concordia in 1998 and refitted it to become the newest member, the Ocean Concord, of the Clearwater offshore clam fleet. Frank continued his career with the vessel by accepting a position as Mate and, within a year, was offered the position of Captain. He has since transferred from the Ocean Concord to the Arctic Endurance. Frank has actively worked on dredge design and construction throughout his career, in addition to new innovations such as multi beam technology and bottom imaging software. He continues to work with real-time data collected during the harvesting operation. Frank has a persistent approach and has participated in Company sponsored training programs in safety, leadership and management. Frank will celebrate 25 years in the offshore clam industry in 2014 and is the youngest Captain in the Fleet.

Winston Pittman | Captain, Arctic Endurance

Winston graduated from high school in 1985 and began his career in the fishing industry with Clearwater in 1988. Starting as a deckhand in the offshore shrimp fishing operation, he advanced to Factory Manager in the early 90’s and in 2002, having earned his Fishing Master’s certificate; he accepted the position of Mate on Clearwater’s Arctic Prawns shrimp vessel. In 2004, he accepted the Captain’s position onboard the Arctic Endurance. In 2007, the Arctic Endurance was converted from a shrimp factory fishing vessel to a clam factory fishing vessel, and Winston accepted a Captain’s position with the clam operation on the Endurance. In addition to successfully earning his Fishing Master certification; Winston has participated in company sponsored training in safety, new technology, leadership and management programs. He is an integral part of the clam operation working with innovations such as multi-beam technology using software such as QuinSea to display data in 3D, and mapping programs such as Olex & Wassp to map and display new areas. Winston collaboratively manages the real time data from the clam vessel to plan the days harvest and processing in conjunction with the onboard Factory Manager and Maintenance Manager.

Terry Simms | Captain, Ocean Concord

Terry began his career with Clearwater in 1993 onboard the clam fishing vessel Atlantic Vigour. Terry worked in various positions onboard and while earning his Fishing Master Class II Certification. In 2009, Terry accepted the position of Captain in the offshore clam factory fishing fleet, first on the Arctic Endurance and the Ocean Concord, where he is currently serving in command as Captain. In addition to his certification as fishing master, Terry has participated in company sponsored training in safety, new technology, Lean Level 1 Certification, leadership and management.

Kevin Swimm | Captain, Ocean Concord

Kevin began his career in the fishing industry in 1973 as a deckhand in the lobster and ground fish inshore fleet. In 1978, he accepted the position of deckhand onboard an offshore scallop fishing vessel. By 1986, he had achieved his Fishing Master Class III Certification and assumed wheelhouse responsibility as a Mate and Relieving Captain. In 1987, he began working with Clearwater in the offshore clam fishing industry as a Captain and is presently a Captain on the offshore clam factory fishing vessel, the Ocean Concord. Over the past 23 years, Kevin has undertaken the necessary time and education to attain his Fishing Master Class I Certification. In addition to his certification as a fishing master, Kevin has participated in company sponsored training in safety, new technology, Lean Level 1 Certification, leadership and management.
