Clearwater’s land-based processing and holding facilities are integral links in Clearwater’s vertically integrated structure. It is here our premium quality primary products are tested, tightly graded and packed for perfection.

Our food safety and quality assurance programs including HACCP and QMP are carefully monitored by a food safety team and continually updated at each location by a group of trained professionals.

The right balance of decentralized and centralized services means that each facility has the resources and tools required to maintain maximum product quality assurance and traceability throughout their part in the Clearwater value chain.

Plants - Pierce LinePierce Fisheries, Nova ScotiaPierce Fisheries is located in picturesque Lockeport on the south eastern shore of Nova Scotia in an area known as the Ragged Islands, known for its history of amazing seafood; [and infamous for its rum running during the depression]. Founded in 1762 and formerly known as Locke's Island, Lockeport was a hub of trading activity with the West Indies trading lumber and salt cod, for molasses and salt.Pierce - Quality Control

Pierce joined the Clearwater operation in 1988. From its early days where scallops were historically block frozen, Pierce pioneered the IQF scallop production and now are responsible for the handling and expert packaging of Clearwater’s frozen at sea scallops in addition to processing and packing Clearwater’s innovative Nova Scotia Prime Lobster product line.

Every year approximately 15 million lbs of sea scallops, argentine scallops, and lobster are processed through the plant by a team of 200 highly dedicated individuals.

St. Anthony, Newfoundland

Shrimp - Plant

St. Anthony is a town on the northern reaches of the Great Northern Peninsula of Newfoundland and Labrador and is known as the Iceberg, Whale and Moose capital of the world. It boasts one of the world's major archaeological properties, Norse village 'L'Anse Aux Meadows', which was briefly inhabited around 1000 AD.

Surrounded by the rugged terrain of Newfoundland it is also home for the occasional polar bear and the many fishermen and plant personnel who harvest and process Clearwater’s cold water shrimp or Pandalus borealis.

The St. Anthony processing facility is widely considered to be ‘state of the art’ where 200 plant and quality assurance personnel process some 5 1/2 million lbs of this sweet ‘sea candy’ for our customers around the world.


Grand Bank, NewfoundlandPlants - Grand Bank - Clam


Situated on Newfoundland’s rugged east coast, on the northern shore of the Burin Peninsula, Grand Bank was settled by French fishermen in 1640 and has been a merchant fishing and schooner town since the early 1920s. Grand Bank Seafoods joined the Clearwater processing family in 1991 and today employees approximately 135 people processing some 10 million lbs of  Arctic Surf Hokkigai and Cockle Clams long favored in Asia and across Asian markets in North America. 




Arichat Plants - Dryland Pound
Arichat is located on the north eastern shore of Nova Scotia and is home to Clearwater’s Dryland Storage facility which allow Clearwater to hold and ship live lobster to our global customers on a year round basis.

This patented system mimic the lobsters natural overwintering environment and keep the lobster in a hibernative state- maintaining their health and full meated quality.

In a typical year over 8 million lbs of live premium lobster move through these facilities and to our customers across North America, Europe and Asia.

Clearwater has two other lobster holding facilities in Louisville, Kentucky and Bedford, Nova Scotia which, in addition to servicing the global customer base, are the distribution and service centre for lobster and other products shipped to our eCommerce shoppers across much of mainland North America.





Plants - Highland Fisheries


Highland Fisheries
Highland Fisheries is located in Glace Bay, on Cape Breton Island of Nova Scotia.

It became originally inhabited in the early 1700s to supply Fortress Louisbourg with coal. Thus began its long history of mining and producing over 40% of Canada’s coal out of as many as 11 mines at its peak.

Glace Bay is home to the national historic site honoring Guglielmo Marconi – the father of radio transmissions and the first cross Atlantic wireless message sent in 1901.

Today Highland is a major employer in the area with 110 people processing over 3 million pounds of snow crab each year.
